Free State dam | Electricity supply cut in Jagersfontein

Eskom says mud has engulfed the substation and the area is inaccessible to workers.

JAGERSFONTEIN - Electricity to Jagersfontein in the Free State has been cut off after a mine dam collapsed on Sunday.

Eskom says mud has engulfed the substation and the area is inaccessible to workers.

The utility says it's impossible to estimate when power will be restored.

The Gift of the Givers organisation meanwhile says it's expected to arrive with aid.

A local church has also opened its doors to accommodate those who have been displaced. 

At least three people have died and 40 others have been injured.
