Freedom Day | Preparations in Matlosana municipality

MATLOSANA - Service delivery is being ramped-up in the Matlosana local municipality in the North West ahead of National Freedom Day on Thursday.

President Cyril Ramaphosa will be in that town to lead the 29th anniversary celebrations of South Africa's democracy.

There have been clean-up operations, with roads being fixed and potholes being patched.

But Matlosana municipality mayor, James Tsolela says this has nothing to do with the president's visit.

He said, "you'll remember the programme of patching started already last year."

"So it has been ongoing, fortunately it coincided with the visit of the president."

"We have appointed about 16 contractors that are dealing with the patching and resealing of our roads in the city of Matlosana... so it's not because of the president that is coming, but it's been an ongoing programme to ensure that speed up service delivery to our people."
