Gauteng Education hosts school safety imbizo

PRETORIA - Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane is hosting a schools safety imbizo in Eersterust in Pretoria on Saturday.

The Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s Portfolio Committee on Community Safety released a statement on Friday, calling on various government departments to prioritize the implementation of recommendations of a Focused Intervention Study (FIS) on School Safety.

eNCA reporter Lindiwe Mpanza spoke with Gauteng spokesperson Steve Mabona who said, "We brought the Community Safety [Department] as our partner and the main stakeholder."

"So we are talking about the safety of our educators, learners, everyone in the schooling environment. We are taking advice on how we can resolve some of these challenges."
