GBV epidemic | Mamelodi woman set alight by ex fights for her life
MAMELODI - It's been a week since Lindiwe Zitha was admitted to ICU after her ex-lover tried to burn her alive.
The 51-year-old is fighting for her life after her ex-boyfriend doused her in petrol.
Zitha's family is praying for her recovery.
Her mother Khabonina Zitha is struggling to accept that she might not see her daughter again.
She says Zitha had two restraining orders against the boyfriend, but this wasn't enough to protect her from him.
The 55-year-old suspect handed himself over to Mamelodi police but died in custody.
The circumstances surrounding his death are now under investigation.
