JOHANNESBURG - Gift of the Givers is on high alert as bad weather continues to batter parts of the country.
Teams are already receiving calls from informal settlements over deteriorating conditions.
Spokesperson Ali Sablay said the Western Cape and the Eastern Cape communities are concerned about access to aid.
Additional relief stock has been deployed, while teams in the Northern Cape have already assisted an island community that's been cut off.
“We already have people from the different informal settlements calling us, where they predict it’s going to be hard hit. Areas like Stellenbosch. Franschhoek. Parts of Saldannah.
"Residents are already calling us to tell us their rains are coming down heavily, and some are quite concerned about when teams can move in.
"In all these areas, we have brought additional stock. Our teams are on standby in all provinces. Our key focus today is on parts of the Eastern Cape and the Western Cape.”
