JOHANNESBURG - The Government of National Unity’s (GNU) Clearing House Mechanism has officially adopted its Terms of Reference (TOR).
It comes over a year after the important body was set up to manage disputes.
Deputy President Paul Mashatile chaired a meeting that brought months of negotiations to a close.
The Clearing House was set up to help the ten-party GNU manage policy disagreements.

A Working Group consisting of representatives from the Democratic Alliance, Rise Mzansi, and the Pan Africanist Congress, and was chaired by the Deputy Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Andries Nel was formed to refine the terms after parties disagreed over key clauses.
The Working Group received submissions on the draft TOR from the representatives of the parties and was tasked with finalising its work within two weeks to report back to the GNU Clearing House Mechanism.
The terms of reference will now be submitted to the Political Leaders Forum for final approval.
