Al Jama-ah is the latest party to join the formation.

The ANC describes the agreement as historic.

The parties constituting the GNU together secured over 70 percent of the vote.

The ANC says the doors remain open for other parties to join.

But they will be subject to clause 24 of the Statement of Intent that says parties already in the GNU must agree before other parties are allowed to join.

The ANC says President Cyril Ramaphosa will announce his new cabinet soon.
