GNU Troubles | 8 in 10 have lost trust in unity government - study

JOHANNESBURG - Public confidence in the Government of National Unity is dropping at an alarming rate.

IPSOS's "What Worries the World" study found 80% of South Africans believe the country is headed in the wrong direction.

It shows a sharp reversal from the initial wave of optimism after the May 2024 elections.

Budget tensions and ongoing economic challenges have led to a loss of trust in the GNU.

Despite this, there is growing support for inter-party cooperation at local government level.
