Government services | Stats SA notes declining use of public services

JOHANNESBURG - People are using fewer government services now than they did in 2020.

That's according to Stats SA's latest 'Access to Government Services' survey.

The survey also highlights a decrease in satisfaction levels with public services, attributed to eroded trust stemming from corruption and mismanagement.

Solly Molayi from Stats SA says that the COVID-19 period has also played a role, as some services were inaccessible during that time.

"What we are also picking up from our survey is that we are asking the same South Africans who have mentioned whether they have used the services, whether they satisfied with the services and similar picture.

"We are also seeing that actually nine out of 12  government services that we have asked [about] we are seeing decline in terms of the level of satisfaction, but the most decline that we are seeing is around the public housing services," he said.
