JOHANNESBURG - The Department of Transport is working on an interim solution following the exposure of irregularities in the awarding of the smart driving license card tender.
This as to minimizing disruptions to the public.
Transport Minister Barbara Creecy confirmed that the Auditor-General (AG) uncovered several issues.
She said the report found that had not been adequate costing when the cabinet decided to procure this machine leading to an overpriced tender.
Additionally, the bid evaluation criteria were not applied consistently, and issues were found in the scoring process.
Despite these findings, Creecy emphasised that no fraudulent activity has been reported in the tender's awarding.
The department is now focused on minimizing disruptions to the public while addressing these concerns.
