DURBAN - A 19-year-old Grade 10 learner has been shot dead at Ndengezi Intermediate School in KwaZulu-Natal.
The learner was allegedly shot multiple times on the school premises on Monday and was declared dead at the scene.
According to police, the victim and the alleged shooter, who was also wearing a school uniform, were seen entering the school together shortly before the shooting.
The suspect allegedly fled the scene after the attack.
Police have not yet established a motive for the killing, and investigations are continuing.

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education has described the incident as deeply disturbing, saying schools should remain safe spaces where learners can learn and develop without fear.
KwaZulu-Natal Education MEC Sipho Hlomuka has expressed his condolences to the learner’s family, friends, fellow pupils, educators and the wider Ndengezi Intermediate School community.
“The loss of a learner is always devastating, but for such a tragedy to occur within the school environment is particularly distressing,” Hlomuka said.
The department says it remains committed to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of learners and staff.
