Greytown girl crowned best African film at Cannes

JOHANNESBURG - South African cinema has just notched up a historic win on the global stage.

Greytown Girl has just won Best African Film at the Cannes Film Awards.

This powerful biopic, rooted in KwaZulu-Natal, tells the story of Meena, a small-town girl who turns pain into triumph.

From special screenings celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Rights of the Child, to a spotlight at the Nelson Mandela Children’s Film Festival, Greytown Girl has been on a winning streak.

The film is the vision of producer Rani Sitaram and the powerhouse performance of renowned actor Jack Devnarain. 

And eNCA's very own anchor  Uvekka Rangappa makes her a debut appearance as Jack's wife.))
