PRETORIA - Advocate Matthew Chaskalson has shown the Madlanga Commission evidence of how Vusimuzi Matlala’s wife was awarded a tender by the city of Ekhuruleni despite several red flags.
The evidence leader said Tsakane Baloyi was awarded a contract in 2023 - dealing with skills development in the metro.
This was done just one week prior to the advertisement of the skills development tender.

She subsequently became the sole director.
Chaskalson says the company was not compliant and even lacked it's own accreditation letter.
They submitted five accreditation letters awarded to other companies.
Ekurhuleni’s suspended head of human resources Linda Gxasheka, agreed that there were several red flags.
Gxasheka told the commission she attempted to halt payments to companies failing to provide satisfactory work, including that of Matlala's partner.

The suspended HR boss was unable to provide verifiable evidence showing she intervened.

The commission resumes on Monday.
