JOHANNESBURG - The Hawks have raided the Amathole District Municipality offices in the Eastern Cape.
It's opened a case of corruption and money laundering against the municipality and certain individuals.

The council is welcoming the investigation, saying it's long overdue.
It's urging those implicated to work with law enforcement agencies.
At the same time, the municipality says it will launch internal processes to deal with them.
The district has been plagued by an ongoing water crisis, which brought health services to its knees.
