CAPE TOWN - Public health experts have lauded the rollout of the antiretroviral drug Lenacapavir as a major breakthrough for South Africa’s entire health system and in the fight against HIV/AIDS.
On Monday, the preventative medication started being rolled out at twenty-two healthcare sites in the Western Cape starting on Monday.

In Gauteng, Lenacapavir has also been rolled out at 133 facilities across the province, targeting populations at high risk of HIV infection.
Health experts stress the vital role of this antiretroviral-based preventive medication in the fight against HIV.
They said working closely with communities will be crucial to driving down new infections.
