Health workers conduct burials in full protective gear in Ebola stricken DRC

BUNIA - A dignified and safe burial has been carried out in Bunia, in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, for a suspected Ebola victim.

A team of health workers conducted the burial in full protective gear to prevent further spread of the virus.

Health officials warn that traditional funeral practices, which often involve close physical contact, significantly increase the risk of transmission.

Authorities said the controlled burials are critical to breaking the chain of infection.

The World Health Organization has described the outbreak as extremely serious and difficult to contain, urging neighbouring countries to act immediately to prevent further spread.
