Hughes sentencing postponed amid shocking court revelations

JOHANNESBURG - Convicted rapist and murderer Amber Lee Hughes will have to wait until next year to know her fate.

Sentencing proceedings have been postponed to February 2026.

The defence has asked for more time to present new evidence.

Hughes was found guilty of the rape and murder of 4-year-old Nada-Jane Challita, her former partner's daughter.

She faces life in prison.

Sentencing proceedings are rehashing sordid details of relationships between the parties involved in her case.

But Nada-Jane's parents see this as part of even more delaying tactics by the former pre-school teacher.
