CAPE TOWN - The Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) refused to name suspects it is investigating.
Appearing before the SAPS Ad Hoc Committee on Wednesday, IDAC Head Advocate Andrea Johnson was pressed by EFF leader Julius Malema if Bheki Cele and Senzo Mchunu are implicated in tenders awarded to alleged crime kingpin, Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala.
Johnson stood firm saying it would be 'irresponsible' to name potential suspects before all evidence is gathered.
"I have learned that you can throw a name out there and follow what you would believe is an investigation and it does not amount to evidence. It would cause irreparable harm,"
Without naming anyone, Johnson told MPS that several persons implicated adding that as long as there is evidence the IDAC will follow it up and prosecute where necessary.
