I'm at my happiest – Ayanda Allie

JOHANNESBURG - “I'm at my happiest.”

That's how Ayanda Allie has described her new political home.

The journalist-turned-politician has joined ActionSA as Gauteng Election Campaign Ambassador.

Allie previously served BOSA in the province's legislature.

Her membership was terminated following an internal disciplinary process over unpaid party levies.

''I'm on a new trajectory, a lot of momentum. I'm on the ground, at my happiest and well supported in this part.

“It's rare that you find a leader who wants to surround himself with strong, vocal and authoritative people. We often see the opposite when there's a new party; you find there's a strong man who wants to be surrounded by weaklings, your yes-man and yes- people.

“Mr Mashaba said he feels more vulnerable when he's surrounded by weak people. So he purposefully seeks strong people and those who can stand on their own and that's what makes his leadership strong and refreshing. Now I don't have to stand nonsensical protocols where you feel you'll step on the toes of a leader; in fact, he loves the challenge, and I think that's great leadership.''
