GERMISTON - Former Ekurhuleni City Manager Imogen Mashazi has been found guilty of improper conduct.
The Public Protector's office found that Mashazi appointed an unqualified official for a senior role in the metro.
The appointment in question is that of Ndumiso Gcwabe, Deputy Metro Police Chief for Security and Loss Control.
Mashazi was arrested in July and released on R50,000 bail.
She faces charges of corruption and defeating the ends of justice.
Mashazi previously appeared at the Madlanga Commission over allegations of abuse of power and protecting senior Ekurhuleni officials from accountability.
