eNCA took to the streets of Harare to speak to residents, vendors, street dealers and small business owners.
Some say the rising cost of living is making it a bleak festive season.
Many are instead holding on to what little they have for school fees and uniforms next year.
While some remain optimistic, the reality of the crumbling economy is clear on the streets, with some supermarket chains already shut down.
