Informal trading | Vendors demand tighter security at ranks

JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng transport hubs, informal traders and vendors have a mutual beneficial relationship.

But the informal traders forum says improved security measures at bus and taxi ranks would make it easier for them to earn a living, free from fear.

This is what they told Gauteng roads and transport MEC Kedibone Diale-Tlabela at an Imbizo held in Pretoria aimed at creating a better relationship between public transport associations and street vendors.  

Diale has promised police visibility and rigorous scrutiny to ensure compliance among informal traders.
