IPF calls for unity in GNU over illegal immigration

JOHANNESBURG - The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) said the Government of National Unity (GNU) must find common ground on foreign policy.

According to IFP President Velenkosini Hlabisa, this also includes looking at a more unified approach to illegal immigration.

His comments come as foreign nationals leave the country ahead of the so-called 30 June deadline.

"The issue of the foreign nationals is one matter that we have a different approach but a common view that people who are foreign nationals must not be victimised personally in any country," he said.

Hlabisa maintains that those who are not documented are illegal and must undergo the appropriate process.
