It ends here and now – Hlabisa on GBVF crisis

DURBAN - IFP leader Velenkosini Hlabisa is calling on men to take a leading role in the fight against gender-based violence and femicide.

His comments come amid the outcry over the killings of nine women in Ekurhuleni.

Hlabisa said the country can no longer respond to femicide with statements of regret.

"The time has come to call all men of South Africa, working together with government and the civil society and all stakeholders, to lead the war against femicide. That time is now and men must take lead in a war against femicide.

“We cannot continue to pick up bodies and issue statements of regret. This is a national crisis. To say not in our name is no longer enough. Because it continues in our name. Now we must say it ends here and now."
