JOHANNESBURG - The National Coloured Congress (NCC) has criticised the arrest of its leader, Fadiel Adams.
Speaking to eNCA shortly before Adams was transported to KwaZulu-Natal, NCC representative Ebriahim Berton described the arrest as “silly”.
“Three weeks ago Adams wrote a letter to authorities, copying Mkhwanazi, informing them that he would hand himself over if they showed us the arrest warrant and clarified what he is being arrested for. Until now, they have refused,” said Berton.
Berton was among other NCC members who gathered outside Cape Town Central Police Station, as Adams was being processed.

One member claimed Adams was being targeted by police despite efforts to expose alleged corruption.
Adams was arrested at the Parliamentary Village on Tuesday.
In a statement issued earlier on Tusday, police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe confirmed that the South African Police Service (SAPS) was in possession of a J50 warrant of arrest for Adams.
The warrant related to allegations that Adams interfered with an ongoing investigation into the murder of former ANC Youth League secretary-general, Sindiso Magaqa.

Mathe said investigators found that Adams allegedly interfered with a convicted and sentenced hitman at a sensitive and advanced stage of the probe.
However, the MP maintains that he has done nothing wrong.
