Joburg crime | DA slams Bomb Squad as 'cadre rescue mission'

JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg is taking an aggressive step towards tackling long-standing challenges of crime, grime, and poor service delivery with the official launch of the Joburg Bomb Squad.

It's a special unit tasked with cleaning up the city, block by block.

City officials say the Bomb Squad will restore order, enforce bylaws and accelerate service delivery.

But not everyone’s convinced.

The DA has slammed the move as a political ploy to reward struggling ANC loyalists.

The city’s Executive Mayor, Dada Morero, is defending the programme, insisting it’s not about politics, but about fixing Johannesburg.
