Johannesburg mayor Mpho Phalatse met with residents after they handed over a memorandum of demands to her office in July.

Phalatse finally met with residents after they handed over a memorandum of demands to her office in July.

The mayor says she's written to Eskom and the public enterprises minister with no response yet.

She said, ''certainly, I can understand my attempts to manage city's relation with Eskom, and afford it time and space it needs, has been misconstrued as an attempt to protect and shield Eskom."

"As much as residents feel let down, I too am let down. I'd like to reassure you of my and multi-government support, we had you loud and clear. If Eskom do not produce concrete plan with timelines, if no response in 14 days I'll personally lead a march to Eskom with residents."
