Karpowership granted access to dock at three SA ports
JOHANNESBURG - The Transport Department has granted Karpowership access to the three ports of Ngqura, Durban, and Saldanha Bay.
The Turkish gas-to-power ships will be able to dock at these three ports for the next 20 years.
Karpowership promises to generate power on its floating gas ship and feed it into South Africa's electricity grid.

It is part of the solutions the country is considering to mitigate the effects of crippling electricity shortages.
Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, says it is inevitable that the country will look to the powership programme for emergency power generation.
Meanwhile, Transport Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga says she has given the Transnet National Ports Authority the latitude to oversee safety measures and operation of this decision.
