KNYSNA - Repeated sewage spills, prolonged water shortages and inconsistent refuse removal, are some of the reasons that pushed authorities to dissolve the Knysna Municipality.
Local Government MEC, Anton Bredell, has now appointed an administrator to assume all executive and legislative authority until a new Municipal Council is elected.
Bredell says the decision follows repeated governance and service delivery failures by the municipality, which have caused severe harm to residents and the environment, and compromised basic services.
