Koeberg unit two operates successfully for 365 days

JOHANNESBURG - Eskom has announced that Unit 2 at the Koeberg Nuclear Power Station has successfully operated for 365 consecutive days, at an average performance level of 99.4 percent.

Unit 2 returned to the grid on 30 December 2024 after a major upgrade.

The power utility says the achievement highlights the strength of South Africa’s nuclear skills base.

The last time Unit 2 recorded a similar performance run was on 18 January 2022, when it operated for 454 consecutive days.

To maintain this performance, the unit is scheduled to enter its next planned outage on 26 April 2026.
