Kouga on alert as heavy rains threaten flooding

GQEBERHA - The Kouga Municipality is implementing evacuation notices as dam levels continue to rise.

Officials say their top priority is ensuring the safety of residents. Weather authorities warn of torrential rainfall that could lead to flooding.

Executive Mayor Kouga Local Municipality, Hattingh Bornman, said water that's coming over the dam wall is increasing every minute, posing a danger, resulting in issuing a notice.

He said their main priority remains the safety of residents.

That notice, he said, remains in place.
