Kunene wants to eradicate potholes in Johannesburg
JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg Transport MMC Kenny Kunene wants to eradicate potholes in the Johannesburg.
He says potholes are not in line with the goal of being a world-class African City.
He says he's now got the backing of the private sector to realise his vision.
Kunene was in conversation with Power To Truth host JJ Tabane.
"Joburg is set to be a world-class African city but the road infrastructure does not qualify it to be a world-class African city and it is upon myself to make sure that the roads are proper, the roads are well maintained.
"The traffic signals you have seen that we have partnered with the private sector.
"We have partnered with Investec, we are plugging into the back up generators of some buildings and Investec is the first and they have done two traffic signals for us Grayston and Rivonia is for ever on even during load-shedding.
"Many other companies have really came on to say we want to come on board and avail our back up generators so that at least traffic signals remain on whilst we are looking at raising money to put in permanent measures.”
