DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli said that the KZN government is set to ramp up inspections at workplaces, targeting employers who hire undocumented foreign nationals.
Ntuli warns that government will act against them.
“We will anticipate inspections at workplaces and businesses across the province to identify and act against employers who hire undocumented foreign nationals in contravention of South African law.
“I want to be direct on this point. Employers who deliberately disregard our immigration regulations are not innocent bystanders to the tensions communities are raising.
“They are contributors to those tensions. Government will find them. Government will act against them. We will continue to engage with communities, traditional leaders, civil society and national government because durable solutions to complex challenges are never the product of a single march or a single summit."

Tuesday marked the unofficial 30 June deadline for undocumented migrants to leave South Africa.
Meanwhile, Ntuli said the protests in the province were largely peaceful.
At least 51 people were arrested for public disorder and looting during the marches on 30 June.
He says those arrested do not represent the thousands who marched in good faith.
Many undocumented migrants remain in South Africa despite an unofficial deadline having passed.
