DURBAN - KwaZulu-Natal residents and disaster management teams are on high alert for heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.
The South African Weather Service issued a Yellow Level 4 warning for disruptive rains in eThekwini and other municipalities.
As from Wednesday morning, rain had been falling in many parts of the province.
In Quarry Road informal settlements, some people have been trying to keep the water away. For some in that area, the rain is a painful reminder of the devastation caused by previous floods. They vividly remember the devastation of 2022, and have mixed feeling about this rain.
Humanitarian aid groups are on standby with emergency relief supplies. They urge vigilance, especially in vulnerable settlements on flood plains.
