PORT ST JOHNS - A dream has turned sour for those who stood to benefit from the Mantusini dairy farm in Port St Johns, in the Eastern Cape.
Since 2005, at least R43-million has been pumped into the project, but the local farmers who stood to benefit from working the land have been left with nothing.
As the farm failed and things fell into disrepair, at least 200 cows were left to die from hunger and thirst.
It's estimated that at the least another R20-million would be needed to revive the dairy farm, that experts say was doomed from the start.
