Lead investigator back on the stand at Meyiwa murder trial

JOHANNESBURG - The Senzo Meyiwa murder trial resumes today (Monday) after a two-month postponement.

Proceedings continue with lead investigating officer Bongani Gininda back on the witness stand.

Gininda's cross-examination was interrupted in February after defence lawyer Charles Mnisi, who recently took over representation of accused number one, Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, requested additional time to prepare.

In his testimony so far, Gininda has alleged that Kelly Khumalo - Meyiwa’s then-girlfriend - was the mastermind behind the 2014 killing of the soccer star.
