PRETORIA - A software developer is accusing Baroka Funerals of using a mobile app he claims he created before joining the company, without paying him.
Baroka is rejecting the allegation, insisting that the MyBaroka app was developed as part of Joshua Mukwevho's employment and isn’t his intellectual property.
He resigned from the company in 2025 and alleges the company is now making money off his app without recognising his ownership but Baroka strongly disputes those claims.
The dispute has now escalated and legal action is looming.
Mukwevho says the experience has changed how he views doing business with large companies.
He has now taken legal steps against Baroka Funerals.
His attorney Charmaine Molebatse Maila says two letters of demand have been served, and they’re planning to file a summons soon.
