JOHANNESBURG - Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi is promising a new jobs pathway.
The province’s officials have launched the Gauteng Human Resource Development Council.
Lesufi says the initiative will help build a skilled workforce.
Previous enterprises have failed to boost employment in the country’s economic hub.
In the first quarter of the year, the unemployment rate rose by more than a percentage point to 34.1%.
Lesufi wants the council to bring together government, business, labour and academia to ensure education and skills development respond to the economy's needs.
