VRYBURG - Mourners have gathered at Huhudi Stadium to bid farewell to the late former North West Premier, Bushy Maape.
He died surrounded by family at the age of 68.
President Cyril Ramaphosa has granted a Special Provincial Official Funeral following Maape’s passing last week, after a short illness.
The ceremony includes full ceremonial elements conducted by the South African Police Service.
Maape, a former Robben Island prisoner, served in various leadership roles in the ANC
and government over several decades.
In 2021, he served as the 7th Premier of the North West Province.
Deputy President Paul Mashatile will deliver the eulogy.
