Lottery commission leadership under scrutiny

JOHANNESBURG - Government says Professor Barney Pityana is retiring from the National Lottery Commission and not resigning.

Pityana was brought in to right the ship following claims of widespread corruption and looting in which former board members and executives were implicated.

His five year term began on 1 August 2022.

The National Lotteries Commission says new systems and policies have been introduced as part of efforts to address governance issues.

The Chairperson of the National Lottery Commission Board, Professor Barney Pityana discussed these measures with eNCA.
