Lower electricity prices, jobs creation: Ramaphosa makes promises in Thembisa

THEMBISA - ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa said government is working to ease pressure on households, while attracting investment and creating jobs.

Speaking on the campaign trail in Thembisa, he acknowledged that weak economic growth remains a challenge.

Ramaphosa said measures are being put in place to bring down electricity prices and grow the economy.

"That is why we are embarking on restructuring of our electricity sector so that prices can be brought down on an overall basis," Ramaphosa said.

He also noted concerns over unemployment, but Ramaphosa said efforts are being made to attract investment to make sure that the economy grows.

"The latest statistics show that our economy contracted by 0.02 percent, that is not such good news. But on an overall basis we do believe that we are putting in place measures to make sure that our economy does grow," Ramaphosa said.
