JOHANNESBURG - Deputy President David Mabuza has given the clearest sign yet that he's ready to step down.
He told mourners at a family funeral all that was left is for President Cyril Ramaphosa to make an official announcement.
Mabuza's resignation has been discussed in hushed tones but is widely expected to happen soon.
"The president will announce that Mabuza has resigned. Me and him have an agreement," Mabuza said.
"I promised him that I'm going to respect him until I leave office. So I'm out.
"I hope those who remain will continue respecting him."
