Magudumana's Constitutional Court bid delays Bester escape trial

PRETORIA - The State says the start of Thabo Bester's prison escape trial hinges on the finalisation of Nandipha Magudumana's application to the apex court.

It therefore plans to write to the Constitutional Court, to advise that the case be finalised as soon as possible.

Bester's new legal representatives have come on record, and Magudumana's father also has a new lawyer.

Thabo Bester, Nandipha Magudumana, her father Zolile Sekeleni, former G4S employees Tebogo Lipholo, Senohe Matsoara, Tieho Makhotsa, Joel Makheta and Zimbabwean national Zanda Moyo appeared briefly in court on Friday.

Magudumana, who was dressed to the nines, embraced her father in the dock.

Her interaction with her alleged partner in crime seemed a little tense, but they could be seen chatting.

Her lawyer told the court that  the trial could not proceed. They are still awaiting direction from the Constitutional Court on Magudumana's bid challenging her deportation from Tanzania.
