Malema slams Dunga appointment critics

JOHANNESBURG - EFF leader Julius Malema has slammed critics of Nkululeko Dunga’s appointment as Gauteng Finance MEC, accusing some in the media of undermining the decision.

Malema has defended Dunga’s track record in Ekurhuleni.

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi’s cabinet reshuffle has sparked controversy.

He appointed Dunga as the new Finance MEC last week.

The move has drawn criticism from even the Premier’s own party.

The ANC Veterans’ League expressed dismay, noting that Dunga was removed from a similar position in Ekurhuleni because of mismanagement concerns.

However, Malema praised Dunga's leadership as pro-poor and decisive.

"The EFF warmly welcomes the appointment of Commissioner Nkululeko Dunga as the new MEC of Finance in the Gauteng province," Malema said.

"His appointment signals a commitment to a principled, pro-poor governance and dedication to saving the people rather than saving the political elite."
