JOHANNESBURG - Manhunt is underway in Ivory Park, Johannesburg, after two police officers were shot and killed while on duty on Friday evening.
Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola has ordered maximum resources to track down the suspects, who also stole two service pistols, a rifle, and cellphones.
The victims, a sergeant and a constable from the Ivory Park police station, were conducting routine crime-prevention duties when they were ambushed.

Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Tommy Mthombeni has appointed a team of seasoned detectives and specialised units to track down the killers and recover the stolen firearms.
Between 1 April and 30 September 2025, the SAPS lost six police officers killed in the line of duty.
Masemola condemned the attack, saying the assault on police officers undermines the authority of the state.
He urged all law enforcement members to stay vigilant and act decisively to protect their lives and the communities they serve.
