PRETORIA - Former Speaker Mapisa-Nqakula finally took to the stand this week in her own defence, but her testimony was cut short as she appeared too tired to continue and she called in sick.
Doctors booked the former Defence Minister off, and her trial has been postponed to Wednesday.
She faces 12 counts of corruption and one of money laundering related to money allegedly received from a defence contractor.
But despite another delay, the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC) said it remains confident in its case against Mapisa-Nqakula.
The warrant of arrest has been authorised, but its execution has been stayed until 16 September — when Mapisa-Nqakula is expected back in court to continue giving evidence in chief.
