Mashatile to lead Youth Day commemoration

JOHANNESBURG - Deputy President Paul Mashatile will be leading Youth Day commemorations at the Dr Petrus Rantlai Molemela Stadium in Mangaung.

This 16 June is the 47th anniversary of the youth uprising in Soweto in 1976.

Back then the school pupils were rejecting education in Afrikaans and apartheid in general.

In democratic South Africa today, the youth find themselves grappling with a scarcity of job prospects, pervasive violent crime and economic hardship.
