PRETORIA - Police Minister Senzo Mchunu says in all the public roles he has occupied, he has never been accused of corruption.
He revealed this when he took the stand for the first time at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Tuesday.
His testimony comes after a long list of witnesses who have come before him to testify on the alleged political interference and rot within the justice system.

These explosive corruption allegations, regarding senior personnel in the South African Police Service (SAPS), including Mchunu, were brought to light by KwaZulu-Natal police commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi during a media briefing on 6 July.
It is that very briefing which Mchunu has now referenced at the Madlanga Commission, saying this was the first time he had been accused of corruption.
He noted that while he did not have personal knowledge of these criminal accusations until they came to the fore at the commission, he would attempt to assist the commission in its reconstruction of the facts.
