MDANTSANE - While Freedom Day is a time to reflect on South Africa’s journey to democracy, for some it’s also a moment of frustration.
Thirty-two years on, many are questioning whether the promises of freedom have been fulfilled.
In the Eastern Cape, residents of Mdantsane are marking the day with a march, calling for an end to illegal immigration.
Community activist Zuko Mafu said they are tired of the infiltration of businesses by foreign nationals.
“We are on the streets because we have seen a massive invasion of foreigners. These foreigners contribute nothing but crime,” he said.
