DURBAN - uMkhonto We Sizwe Party (MKP) condemns Paul O'Sullivan's decision to walk out of the Ad Hoc Committee.
The party said no one is above the law. It insists parliamentary authority extends beyond plenary sittings and should be respected.
Controversial Forensic Investigator Paul O'Sullivan denies he abruptly left Ad Hoc proceedings.
He insisted that the committee exceeded the agreed upon the time allocation and that he was scheduled to leave the sitting at 1pm.
O'Sullivan walked out of the Committee hearing on Thursday following heated exchanges with MPs.
But MKP MP, Sibonelo Nomvalo said time does not justify the manner in which O'Sullivan left Parliament, given that his case was not unique.
According to Nomvalo, there has been an instance where proceedings dragged right into till 11pm with one witness because of the magnitude of their evidence.
But even then, the witness never left while amid proceedings.
"While you are there you are subjected to the behest of Parliament. The chairperson must say we are done with you. And if there were flight issues as he said, arrangements were going to be made," he said.
Nomvalo slammed O'Sullivan's behaviour.
